Podcast #22: Math educator Barbara Shreve

Barbara Shreve is a wonderful Math educator in the Bay Area and an even better friend.

She has taught high school mathematics, written math textbooks, coordinated district math efforts, and is now working in improvement science.

Barbara has many talents, though, and one of them is journalism. On the show, we talked about our shared experience working on our high school newspaper, The Epitaph, which was transformative.

Later in the episode, we chatted about the Washington Post article in last week’s issue of The Highlighter. Though many people believe that the Post did the right thing rescinding its off-the-record policy in this case, Barbara had a different view. After listening to her reasoning, I was persuaded.
